December 8th-13th: Shark Week Tour!

Hello!

First, thanks to all of you who we've seen recently. Remember that time when we played in our basement and the power cut out and that huge spark left Scotty's microphone? You mean your head was turned? Oh, well! That happens all the time at our house. You'll catch it next time.

It was a pleasure playing with Washed Out at Emory and the Save Criminal Records benefit couldn't have been better. No sparks were present in our basement for the Criminal records benefit, so maybe it doesn't happen every time? Oh, well.

But, I started this blog to let you know that, next week, we're going on tour. We loved New York over our 4th of July tour, so we thought we'd like to see it in the winter, too. It's going to be cold. But, hey! We've got some new tunes to share.

For the Atlantans or "ATLiens", this kick-off show will most likely be our last local show until at least March/April of next year. We're taking a short break because 1) we played out in abundance this year and 2) we are going to finish writing and recording our first LP. So don't miss this!

For the tour, this is what we've got planned:

December 8: Atlanta, 529 w/ The Romans, Mediocre Machine, Easter Island
December 9: Athens, Go Bar w/ Thick Paint (Graham from Reptar), Fuzzbucket
December 10: D.C. , Velvet Lounge w/ Ra Ra Rasputin, Height With Friends
December 11th: Brooklyn, Shea Stadium w/ Caged Animals, Phone Tag, and SoftSpot
December 12th: NYC, Cake Shop w/ The Hairs, Pale Lights, We Can't Enjoy Ourselves
December 13th: Philly, Little Bar w/ Alien Father

We love all of you and look forward to seeing every last one of you at these shows.

Good evening!

-Sean

Sunday Morning Coming Down

This is "Heroin/Sister Ray" taken from "The Legendary Guitar Amp Tapes" that my friend Wendell showed to me. The build before the clipper-ship verse on "Heroin" gave me goosebumps.

This is a Small Reactions Demo

Here is a demo for the song "Keepah." It's currently undergoing a renovation. There is an absent bass line in this song that sounds like it's off a Stax single.

Enjoy!

May 13th at 529!!

Hello,

How are you? Good? Good. Us too!

We've been hard at work writing some new tunes and we're about to work even harder recording them. It will be more vinyl this time. We've got some coffee mugs, stickers, and pins to accompany it, too. Cool!

What are you doing in say, 1 month from now? On Friday the 13th? Great! We've just made plans for you then. We're opening for Gold-Bears at 529. It's their LP release show for Slumberland records. It's our release show for those aforementioned new tunes. It's a party.

So, well see you in a couple weeks? Awesome!

It'll be the best Friday the 13th you've ever spent.

SXSW Compilation

Our friends at Favorite Gentlemen asked if we'd like to be on their SXSW compilation and we gave them a resounding "Yes!" The compilation is pretty sprawling and 40 all tracks represent the best of Atlanta right now. Sorry No Ferrari, Balkans, Carnivores, Sealions, This Piano Plays Itself, Mood Rings, The Back Pockets, and a ton of other great local bands also made the cut. Really, there isn't a bad track on the thing. If you head over to the ATL Yeah! page (in that hyperlink back there), you can check out all the info (and download for free) the compilation, scout the Favorite Gentlemen SXSW party, and kill more time than you already are...in the best way possible.

We aren't playing SXSW this year, but "Cult Hero Jonathan Lewin" will represent us on our behelf. We'll probably play next year, but in the mean time, you can check out a large portion of the compilation bands at SXSW and, in particular, at the ATL Yeah! party from Favorite Gentlemen.

With this time that are not spending in Austin, we are recording new songs for our upcoming record. Probably a 10" this time...

See you all soon!

Good Luck at SXSW! Atlanta bands!

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

It has been raining here all of the day.
By the way, we are booking a string of East Coast shows over the summer
and recording commences soon in Rock Bottom's garage apartment.
HOORAH, HOORAH. (I'm envious of everyone who saw Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall the other night.)

The Earl

Cool!

Our first show back at The Earl since......2009?! Guess so. December 3rd, 2009 to be exact. That show was Jay Reatard's last time in Atlanta. Great show that was. It'll be great to be back there.

In other words, we'd love for you to join us. Friends The North Trolls and A. Grimes are on the bill as well, so get there early.

It's only $5 and it's 21+

See you Wednesday. March 2nd to be exact.
